Heidi Cruz is dismissing jokes that her husband, Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, is the infamous Zodiac Killer. 

{mosads}“Well, I’ve been married to him for 15 years, and I know pretty well who he is, so it doesn’t bother me at all. There’s a lot of garbage out there,” she said Monday, according to Yahoo News. 

A meme has quickly spread across the internet in recent months comparing the Texas senator to the Zodiac Killer, accused in a series of unsolved murders during the late 1960s and early 1970s. 

Cruz was born in 1970 — two years after the first murders took place. 

Comedian Larry Wilmore made several jokes about the meme Saturday at the White House Correspondents’ Association annual dinner. 

“Recently, Ted Cruz got a string of wins and endorsements. Then everybody remembered who Ted Cruz is — the Zodiac Killer,” Wilmore joked.

“It’s amazing how people are swayed by it,” Heidi Cruz told Yahoo News about Wilmore’s jokes. “Part of it is, the news media is 24/7, and they don’t let up.”
