Kasich: I’m not going to do a third-party run

Ohio Gov. John Kasich says he does not plan to run for president as a third-party candidate.

“I think that I gave it my best where I am, and I just think running third-party doesn’t feel right,” Kasich said in an interview on CNN scheduled to air Monday night.

{mosads}”I think it’s not constructive.”

Kasich said he had a phone call with someone who wanted him to consider running as a third-party candidate but declined to say whom he spoke with during the interview.

Kasich dropped his presidential bid earlier this month following presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump’s win in the Indiana primary. Kasich only won his home state of Ohio.

Some conservative activists have been looking for a third-party alternative to Trump and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, and several Republican leaders have said they won’t vote for Trump in a general election.

Kasich, who earlier in the campaign said he would support the eventual Republican nominee, has not said since he dropped out of the race whether he would support Trump.
