“Charm offensive? Just got a handwritten note from @realDonaldTrump. Seriously. Apparently reaching out to #NeverTrump,” Sykes tweeted.

He still doesn’t plan on voting for the presumptive Republican nominee, he said.

“Safe to say that @realDonaldTrump note is… unusual… but I appreciate the outreach. But still #NeverTrump.”

Conservative radio host Erick Erickson, who also firmly plants himself in the #NeverTrump camp, replied to Sykes, saying he has also received handwritten notes from the candidate.

“Every note I’ve ever gotten from him was in thick sharpie, scanned as a PDF, and emailed by his secretary,” Erickson tweeted.

Sykes has been one of Trump’s most vocal critics on conservative airwaves. In May, he penned an “open letter” to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, slamming him for “embracing” Trump.

“Trump is a cartoon version of every liberal stereotype of racist, sexist, xenophobic, know-nothing Republicans — an image of old angry white men that we have spent decades denying. But now your embrace of Trump erases any daylight between that party and Trump, with all of the attendant consequences,” Sykes wrote.
