Never Trump group eyes conservative lawyer for WH run: report

Conservatives opposed to presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump are considering trying to run a constitutional lawyer as a third-party candidate, according to a new report Tuesday.
{mosads}Bloomberg Politics reported that Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol and others are eyeing David French, a constitutional lawyer and veteran, to run for president.
Kristol has dropped hints of late about efforts to organize an independent candidate to block Trump from winning the White House.
French is an Iraq War veteran and a staff writer at the National Review. His biography on the conservative publication’s website says he is a graduate of Harvard Law School, and has worked for a variety of right-wing think tanks and advocacy organizations.
Neither Kristol nor French commented on the report, and it is unclear whether the French has signed on for an independent run.
Trump campaign social media director Dan Scavino appeared to mock the report in a tweet posted moments after the news emerged:
