Trump: Gingrich will be ‘involved with our government’

Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump on Wednesday praised Newt Gingrich and said the former Speaker, often floated as a top vice presidential choice, will be involved in the government in some way.

{mosads}”We like Newt, and I’ll tell you why. Newt has been my friend for a long time, and I’m not saying anything, and I’m not telling even Newt anything,” he said during a rally Wednesday in Ohio. “But I can tell you, in one form or another, Newt Gingrich is going to be involved with our government, that I can tell you.”

“He’s smart. He’s tough. He gets it, and he says I’m the biggest thing he’s ever seen in the history of politics,” Trump continued.

Gingrich has been floated as a potential running mate for Trump. The former lawmaker from Georgia is a strong supporter of Trump and campaigned with him during his rally Wednesday.

Trump said earlier Wednesday that he’s considering 10 people to be his running mate.

“Newt is Newt, great guy, tough and smart, just a fantastic guy,” Trump said earlier Wednesday on Fox News.

Trump has been weighing announcing his vice presidential pick sometime between now and the Republican National Convention later this month.

“I’ll tell you one thing folks: I’m not saying it’s Newt, but if it’s Newt, nobody’s going to be beating him in those debates, that’s for sure,” Trump said.
