"Look what is happening to our country under the WEAK leadership of Obama and people like Crooked Hillary Clinton," Trump tweeted early Sunday.

"We are a divided nation."

Trump often slams the president and his likely rival for their records.

His tweet comes after five police officers were killed and seven others were injured in a shooting Thursday night in Dallas during a protest prompted by the police-involved deaths of two black men, Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Louisiana, earlier in the week.

Castile and Sterling were fatally shot by police officers in incidents caught on camera and viewed widely on social media.

The incidents have spurred protests across the country.
