Liberals protesting the Obama administration’s international trade deal shouted down Rep. Elijah Cummings’s (D-Md.) address to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Monday.

{mosads}Cummings, a top Democrat in the House and close ally of presumptive presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, was in the middle of a speech remembering his late father and in support of the Black Lives Matter movement when liberals began chanting anti-TPP slogans and holding up signs.

The floor protests went on for the last few minutes of Cummings’s speech.

The Maryland Democrat is widely respected in liberal circles, but no one is safe at the opening night of the convention.

Supporters of Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Clinton’s primary opponent, are looking to make their presences known, shouting over one another for supremacy on a rowdy and divisive opening day of the convention.
