During a radio interview with John Catsimatidis, Carville said Trump’s campaign is pushing away the rest of the Republican Party and endangering his chances of winning.
“These guys have been outflanked, outmaneuvered, outsmarted, and they’re not taking it very well,” Carville said of the campaign. “They’re just going to have to stand there and just get beat because that’s what’s going to happen to Trump. He’s just getting slapped around every time you turn around."
Carville later added, “If anything, he’s pretty stupid when it comes to politics."
Asked if Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, has arranged a “backroom” alliance with the Bush family in order to attract the former presidents’ aides and officials, Carville said that the mass defections are a result of Trump’s poor political acumen rather than an establishment conspiracy.
“What’s happening is people see this guy is a loser and he’s not running a very smart campaign,” he said.
