Donald TrumpNewsom touts victory over recall as rejection of 'Trumpism' Newsom easily beats back recall effort in California Second senior official leaving DHS in a week MORE from tweeting a picture of himself eating a taco bowl on Cinco de Mayo, the Huffington Post reported Wednesday.
According to the Post, which did not provide a source for the anecdote, Trump happened to be eating the taco bowl in his office that day when a member of his family suggested tweeting out a picture of him enjoying his lunch.
Manafort, the GOP presidential nominee's campaign manager, reportedly advised against it, arguing it could be seen as condescending, but his advice went unheeded.
The tweet was roundly criticized as offensive.
“The people who were offended were people we wanted to offend,” Trump said later.
