The CBS News Battleground Tracker poll shows Clinton leading Trump 46 percent to 40 percent in Ohio. In the same poll in July, Clinton had a 4-point lead on Trump in the Buckeye State.

The poll also shows that in the swing state of Iowa, Clinton and Trump are tied at 40 percent.

But there are worrisome signs for both candidates in Ohio. Of those surveyed in Ohio, only 35 percent said Trump is prepared to be president. While Clinton leads in Ohio, only 44 percent see her as "looking out for people like you."

The poll surveyed 1,984 registered voters in Ohio and Iowa. The margin of error is 3.9 percentage points in Ohio and 4 percentage points in Iowa.
