“When The New York Times goes back over 30 years to find somebody who had a bad airplane flight ... that’s sincere,” the top Trump surrogate told Fox Business Network on Thursday.

In a New York Times report on Wednesday, 74-year-old Jessica Leeds recalled sitting next to the real estate mogul in first class on a flight to New York more than three decades ago. During the flight, Leeds said Trump lifted the armrest, grabbing her breasts and trying to put his hand up her skirt, she said.

“He was like an octopus,” she told the Times, adding that she had never met Trump before. “His hands were everywhere.

“It was an assault.”

Gingrich said that’s not the Trump he knows.

“I’m happy to stipulate Donald Trump in the past,” he added. “This is not the Donald Trump that Callista and I know, but Donald Trump in the past may have been crude, if you’re willing to stipulate that [Democratic nominee] Hillary [Clinton] is both corrupt and dangerous.”
