"Just poking around the back roads," King tweeted from Dixville Notch, N.H., which for decades has been the first town in New Hampshire to vote during their early presidential primaries. "Beautiful place 4 first in nation primaries & general election results."

King, an outspoken conservative whose vocal opposition to recent immigration reform proposals has raised his profile, has hinted that he might be interested in a presidential run in 2016. He also has an upcoming trip to South Carolina.

The Tea Party favorite would start off with a strong base of support in his home state of Iowa. But it's unclear how he would do in the other early-voting states he's visiting.
