Crossroads launches six-state, $4.7M Senate ad buy

{mosads}Former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine (D) is Crossroads’s main target: it’s spending $1.55 million against him on two ads criticizing his tenure as governor as well as his support for a bipartisan deal to raise the debt ceiling last summer.

The conservative group is spending $1.33 million hitting Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) on the economy, $770,000 to hit Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) on deficit spending, $680,000 attacking Rep. Shelley Berkley’s (D-Nev.) ethics, $300,000 hitting Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) on regulations and the deficit and $250,000 criticizing Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) on deficit spending.

The group, co-founded by top GOP strategist Karl Rove, does not have to disclose its donors and plans to spend upwards of $200 million, along with its sister organization American Crossroads, on the presidential and Senate elections this cycle.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee pushed back with a new web video slamming the group for pushing to “gut Social Security and Medicare,” cut taxes for the wealthy and defend “big oil” subsidies.
