Former wrestling executive Linda McMahon is planning another try for the Senate in Connecticut, two Republican sources told the New York Times.

McMahon largely self-funded her failed bid last year, losing to Democrat Richard Blumenthal by about seven points in the race for the seat vacated by former Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.).

This time around, the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment might try to run a more standard campaign and rely on private donor cash instead of her own pockets, avoiding the heat she took in 2010 for relying on personal wealth to gain political traction.

If she runs in 2012, McMahon will vie for the seat currently held by Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.).
