Sen. Enzi bolsters fundraising for primary against Liz Cheney

Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) has stepped up his fundraising game in the face of a potentially tough primary, bringing in almost $850,000 in the last three months.

Enzi was outraised by primary challenger Liz Cheney (R), who topped $1 million in the same period.

But the haul is a huge increase over the $100,000 he raised in the previous quarter, and shows he’s able to raise large sums when pressed. Enzi now has $1.2 million in the bank.

{mosads}”Diana and I have been humbled by the overwhelming support we have received from people across our great state,” Enzi said in a statement.

“Friends, old and new, have offered their help, advice and prayers. We are so proud to stand side-by-side with these great folks from every corner of Wyoming.”

Polling shows Enzi has a big early edge in the race, and much of Wyoming’s political establishment has united behind his campaign.

Cheney is the daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney.
