New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan (D) outraised Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) in the second quarter of 2016.

Hassan raised $3.2 million between April and June, while Ayotte brought in $2.5 million, according to releases from both campaigns.

{mosads}Ayotte still has more money in the bank, however. The GOP senator has $7 million on hand, compared to $4.2 million in Hassan’s campaign account. Ayotte ended the first fundraising quarter of the year with about $6.9 million on hand, meaning she only netted $100,000 over the last three months. Last quarter, Hassan had $2.9 million in the bank and added more than $1 million this fundraising period.

“In New Hampshire, we have shown that it is possible to bring people together across party lines to lay the foundation for a new generation of innovative economic growth, help companies create jobs and support a thriving middle class,” Hassan said in a statement.

“And I will take that same approach to the United States Senate to continue working to solve problems, foster innovation and expand opportunity for hard-working Granite State families and small businesses.”

Ayotte faces a primary challenge, but is expected to advance in September and face Hassan in what’s expected to be one of the closest and most expensive Senate races this cycle.

The New Hampshire seat could be pivotal in determining which party gains control of the upper chamber.

In a RealClearPolitics average of polls, Ayotte is leading Hassan by 1.5 points, and most recent surveys show the race as extremely close.
