“Honestly, Donald Trump needs no help from Mike Huckabee in getting publicity,” Huckabee said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“He’s doing a great job of that on his own,” Trump’s fellow 2016 GOP presidential candidate added.

Huckabee said his position on border security, however, does mirror Trump’s. The former Arkansas governor said America could better secure its borders against illegal immigration.

“The fact people say we can’t secure the border is nonsense. This country can do it,” he said. “We just need a president who wants to as well.”

Huckabee said he has a favorable view of immigrants overall.

“I get on my knees every night and thank God I live in a country people are trying to break into, not out of,” he said.

“Are there some people who come here with nefarious goals?” he asked. “Yes.”

“But I would never besmirch all the people who come here,” Huckabee added.

Trump sparked outrage by sharply criticizing Hispanic immigrants and Mexico in general on during his campaign launch.

“They’re sending people who have a lot of problems,” Trump said during his 2016 presidential campaign launch. “They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

Trump has lost multiple business relationships over the divisive remarks. Macy’s, NBC and Univision have all cut ties with the billionaire.

Trump argued on Saturday that he is addressing a real problem with violent crime related to illegal immigration.

“Nobody wants to talk about it,” he said.

“It seems like I’m sort of the whipping post because I bring it up, and I don’t understand it,” he added. “There’s tremendous crime, and illegal immigration is just incredible.”
