Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush says he's lost 40 pounds in the past six months as he runs for the GOP presidential nomination.

Bush, 62, said in a Sunday interview at a Dairy Queen with CBS affiliate KCCI in Iowa Falls that he shed the weight through exercise and a paleo-style diet of meats and vegetables.


The former governor said in February that he was on the trendy diet, which avoids refined sugar, dairy, grains and processed foods.

"I am always hungry," Bush lamented in late April, according to The New York Timeswhich reported at the time that he had lost around 30 pounds since December.
