Dozens of police departments sign on to WH reform program

The Obama administration will announce Friday that 53 police jurisdictions throughout the U.S. have opted to participate in the Police Data Initiative, a program launched by the White House in 2015 to help police departments better interact with their communities and cut down on use of force.

{mosads}The program works with police departments to improve internal operations and solve policing problems in a more timely manner by upgrading technology practices and using data more efficiently to encourage accountability.

The departments participating include those in Albuquerque, N.M., Atlanta, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and New York.

More than 90 data sets have been released to date.
