"The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert on Thursday harshly criticized President Trump for his Twitter attack aimed at MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski.

Colbert said on his show Thursday that it's time for Americans to stop treating Trump like the "symptom" of a greater problem.

“First of all, someone bleeding badly at your door and you say no? It sounds like your healthcare plan," Colbert joked.

He then targeted a tweet by Sen. “Hold it right there, Lindsey!” Colbert fired back. “This is not what’s wrong with American politics, OK? This is what’s wrong with the American president.”

Colbert then gave his prescription for dealing with Trump's tweets.

“Let’s stop pretending that Trump is a symptom of something; he’s the disease. And the only cure is three and a half years of liquor and bed rest.”

On Thursday, Trump tweeted at MSNBC co-host Mika Brzezinski, accusing the "Morning Joe" host of showing up to hist Mar-a-Lago resort "bleeding" due to a face lift.

"Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year's Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift," Trump tweeted Thursday morning. The attack was widely condemned by both Republicans and Democrats.
