Dem senator: Trump’s ‘icky’ Boy Scout speech left ‘my stomach in knots’

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) blasted President Trump’s speech to a crowd of Boy Scouts as “icky” on Monday night.

“As a Scout leader, my stomach is in knots about what Trump did today. If you haven’t watched it yet, don’t. It’s downright icky,” Murphy tweeted.

Murphy has been a frequent critic of Trump, calling him the “sole executioner” of ObamaCare if the healthcare law is repealed and demanding Trump testify under oath before Congress about his firing of former FBI Director James Comey.

{mosads}His latest attack on Trump came after the president delivered a campaign-style speech in front of the crowd of roughly 35,000 at the Boy Scouts of America’s National Jamboree Monday night, telling a long story about him meeting his hero, real estate developer William Levitt, while spending time on yachts and at cocktail parties in New York City.

The crowd also booed former President Obama when Trump, who was not a Boy Scout, asked if he had ever spoken to the group. Obama, who was part of an organization similar to the Boy Scouts in Indonesia, sent a video addressing the group in 2010.

“The answer is no, but we’ll be back,” Trump said.

Trump also joked he would fire Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price if the GOP failed to pass an ObamaCare repeal-and-replace bill Tuesday.
