"The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert spoofed President Trump's new "Real News" videos in a segment this week by editing the president's daughter-in-law and host of the series into a parody pro-Trump news segment.
Lara Trump, wife of the president's son Eric Trump, hosts the "Real News" video series, which the president promoted on his Facebook page this week. In an apparent effort to fight "fake news," the videos share pro-Trump news stories and statistics.
"That looks like state-sponsored propaganda," joked Colbert about the segment. "This news broadcast has a refreshingly low level of production. I believe the show is called 'woman speaks in front of tarp.'"
Colbert poked at the "Real News" series by editing his already existing parody pro-Trump news show, "Real News Tonight" to make it look like Lara Trump is interacting with his fictional news hosts Jim Anchorton and Jill Newslady.
"Wait a second, the 'Real News?' If that sounds familiar to you, it's because 'Real News' is the thing we've been doing since Trump got elected where we make up news we think the president would like to see," Colbert said.
In the clip the anchors ask Trump questions such as: “How are the jobs jobbing?” and “What’s the latest on the president’s generosity?”
