A majority of President Trump's supporters in a new poll agree with the president’s claim that the media is “the enemy of the American people,” according to new research from YouGov.
According to the data, more than 60 percent of “Trump approvers” said they agreed with the statement, while just about 15 percent of “Trump disapprovers” said they agreed with it, according to BuzzFeed.
The survey also showed that trust and confidence in the press falls roughly along party lines, with 74 percent of Democrats or those who lean Democratic saying they have a “great deal” or “a fair amount” of confidence in the press, a 23-point increase from last year. Among Republican and Republican-leaning respondents, only 19 percent said the same.
President Trump has feuded with the media throughout his presidency, and tweeted in February that the “fake news media” is the “enemy of the American people,” specifically calling out The New York Times, NBC News, ABC, CBS and CNN.
The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!

Beyond referring to negative press coverage as “fake news,” Trump has called for people to sue news networks over inaccurate reporting and suggested that he may revoke networks’ broadcasting licenses.
The president’s attacks on networks have largely targeted CNN, tweeting last month that the network represents the U.S. “very poorly” to the rest of the world, and that Fox News is “much more important” than CNN.
.@FoxNews is MUCH more important in the United States than CNN, but outside of the U.S., CNN International is still a major source of (Fake) news, and they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly. The outside world does not see the truth from them!
