Suspect arrested in shooting deaths of five people in Louisiana

Police arrested a Louisiana man who allegedly killed five people in two separate shootings over the weekend.

NBC News reported that the Richmond County, Va., Sheriff's Office arrested Dakota Theriot on Sunday. The sheriff's office said they learned Theriot, 21, may have lived in Richmond County and still had family in the area.

Richmond Sheriff Stephan Smith said Theriot's grandmother asked deputies to visit her house and expressed concern that her grandson may come there.

Deputies were already at the home when Theriot arrived, NBC reported. Theriot allegedly pointed a gun out a car window, but was eventually arrested without incident.

Authorities launched a manhunt after Theriot allegedly killed his parents, Elizabeth and Keith Theriot, in Ascension, La., on Saturday morning.

Theriot is also suspected to be the shooter who killed three members of the Ernest family in Livingston Parish in Louisiana, according to the Livingston sheriff's department. One of the victims was believed to be Theriot's girlfriend, NBC reported.
