Apple CEO meets with Indian prime minister

Apple CEO Tim Cook is launching a charm offensive in India in hopes of expanding the company into the Indian market, meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday, according to the Associated Press.


Cook and Modi discussed the CEO’s plans for manufacturing and selling Apple products in the country.

Apple only has a 2 percent share of the smartphone market in India, one of the world’s fastest-growing smartphone markets.

“Thank you @tim_cook!” Modi wrote on Twitter after the meeting. “Your views & efforts are always enriching.”
