A court battle over a sex tape related to former Sen. and presidential candidate John Edwards (D-N.C.) and his mistress, Rielle Hunter, was settled on Thursday.

The dispute was between Hunter and former Edwards aide Andrew Young over the ownership of a sexually explicit tape. On Thursday, a settlement was reached over the ownership of the tape. Under the agreement, ownership goes to Hunter and all copies of the tape will be destroyed within 30 days.

{mosads}The settlement includes the tape and a number of other items, such as photographs of Hunter and Hunter’s daughter, of whom Edwards is the father.

In January 2010, Hunter accused Young and his wife, Cheri, of stealing the tape and a number of items. The settlement ends a two-year dispute over the tape.

The agreement is the latest development stemming from the affair Edwards had with Hunter during the 2008 presidential campaign. Edwards initially denied that he and Hunter had fathered the child but eventually came forward as the father as a result of a lawsuit over whether the former North Carolina senator violated campaign finance laws to hide his affair with Hunter.
