Christie says he’d listen if Romney offers VP spot
{mosads}According to the governor, Romney knows the vice presidency isn’t a job that interests Christie.
“He knows that it’s not my desire, my lifelong wish to be vice president of the United States, so the fact is if he comes and talks to me about it I’ll certainly listen and listening means going into it with an open mind,” Christie said. “But no, this is not something I am campaigning for or looking for. I have the job that I campaigned for and looked for and I’m enjoying every day.”
Still, Christie underscored that if the former Massachusetts governor called, he would weigh the offer seriously.
“Mitt Romney calls and wants to discuss it with me, I will sit down and talk with Gov. Romney about it,” Christie said.
Elsewhere, New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez said she “emphatically” would not accept a spot on the ticket — even if offered directly by Romney.
“I am going to say that I am very honored and very humbled but I must decline,” Martinez told The Weekly Standard.
