White House joins Pinterest

The White House announced on Saturday that it has joined Pinterest, a social media website.

The site allows users to share images and photos on different pinboards to detail their hobbies, interests and events for visitors that come to their accounts.

The White House said it plans to share “inspiring images” as well as infographics explaining the issues of the day.

{mosads}“Today, the White House joins millions of pinners around the country with an official presence on Pinterest, a virtual pinboard sharing site. On Pinterest, the White House will share pins and boards that range from inspiring images and quotes to infographics that help explain key issues to details about the life inside the White House,” said Kori Schulman, the White House’s director of online engagement for its Office of Digital Strategy, in a blog post.

The White House will roll out its first pinboards on December 17. That’s also the same day the White House will be hosting a Holiday Social that day to give visitors to its Pinterest account a behind-the-scenes look at its holiday preparations.

“Pinners will be invited to check out the décor, meet with the people that helped transform the White House for the holidays, join us for a craft project — and share it all with the Pinterest community,” Schulman said.
