Obama policy adviser to leave White House

Barnes was a veteran of the president’s 2008 campaign who previously worked for the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.). Before joining the White House, Barnes served as a policy executive at the Center for American Progress and Director of Legislative Affairs of the U.S. Equal Opportunity Employment Commission.

According to the White House, Barnes worked extensively on civil and voting rights, women’s health issues, religious liberties, and commercial law.
