Kurt Bardella will be returning to Rep. Darrell Issa’s (R-Calif.) office.
Bardella was fired by Issa in the spring amid allegations he leaked emails from reporters to Mark Leibovich, a writer for The New York Times who is working on a book about Washington’s political culture.
But Bardella is now rejoining the Issa team and accepting a position with the Oversight Committee. He will report to the general counsel for the committee and not serve as an Issa spokesman, as he did before, Issa's office said.
The return was first reported by Fishbowl DC.
Bardella, who worked as a deputy communications director for Issa, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Affairs Committee, had been seen as one of the lawmaker’s closest aides.
The former spokesman was at the forefront of Issa’s effort to increase his profile as Oversight’s chairman.
Since leaving Issa’s office, Bardella has worked in communications for The Daily Caller.
