Gingrich applauds ‘Occupy’ crackdowns as protesters disrupt campaign event

{mosads}”There is no such thing in America as 99 percent. We are all 100 percent Americans,” Gingrich said to cheers. “We are all part of America.”

“Occupy” groups around the country marched in protest Thursday of New York City’s decision to clear Zuccotti Park, the site of the original “Occupy Wall Street” camp. Dozens of protesters were arrested in New York, while a march in Washington shut down traffic.

Gingrich said that unlike the tea party protesters in the crowd before him, the “Occupy” protesters were destructive and hostile.

“They want to tear down our country,” Gingrich said. “We love and want to rebuild our country. That’s the difference.”

Gingrich has been highly critical of the movement in previous statements, saying that he did not understand the protest’s message and that he believed participants were angry at the wrong people. He has also said that he was concerned by “anti-Semitism” in the movement.

“There is a frightening level of anti-Semitism in some of these gatherings fundamentally different than the Tea Party,” Gingrich said on CBS.
