Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis (D) has signed with Blue Rider Press, a division of Penguin Random House, to write a book about her life and career.

Davis, a Democrat who recently declared her candidacy for Texas governor, vaulted to the national stage with an 11-hour filibuster of a Texas bill that restricts abortions early this summer.

"Everyone deserves to have a say in their future," says Davis, according to a press release from the publisher announcing the deal.

"I hope telling the story of how I went from being a single mom to serving in the Texas State Senate to running for governor will remind others that with the right leadership in government, where you start has nothing to do with how far you go."

The memoir, as yet untitled, is expected to be published in the fall of 2014.
