Streets around the White House were briefly closed on Tuesday morning because of an unattended package in neighboring Lafayette Park.

Security later gave the all clear signal, after the area was deemed safe. The package caused a lockdown of the White House's North Lawn.

Local D.C. police were dispatched to evaluate the package, a Secret Service spokesman said, and the northern fence line was locked down as a part of standard procedure. During that time, the park and the streets around it were closed, The Washington Post reported.

The White House was also locked down last week, when a small recreational drone crashed on to the grounds of the executive mansion.
