A Republican lawmaker says President Obama "stood up for ISIS" when he criticized GOP calls to stop allowing Syrian refugees into the U.S.

“Here is what disgusts me, this is just, you know, early morning me here, but I thought what the president did earlier in his press conference was an absolute disgrace,” Rep. Ann WagnerAnn Louise WagnerMissouri Republicans move to block Greitens in key Senate race Democratic Kansas City, Mo., mayor eyes Senate run The Hill's Morning Report - Presented by Emergent BioSolutions - House GOP drama intensifies; BIden sets new vax goal MORE (R-Mo.) said Friday during an interview with FM NewsTalk 97.1, according to BuzzFeed News.

Wagner said Obama decided to "stand up against the side of freedom."

“He decided to pick a fight and stand up for ISIS and stand up against the side of freedom and to pick a fight with not just Republicans, but Democrats, over this refugee issue,” she said. “It is a politicization. It is a deflecting measure.”

Wagner added that Obama should be stepping up airstrikes against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

Obama ripped Republican refugee opponents earlier this week, accusing them of being "scared of widows and orphans."

He said the attempts to block Syrian refugees from coming to the U.S. after the Paris attacks were "a political posturing" that "needs to stop."
