A man carrying two guns and a Quran on Thursday was arrested at a hotel near the Disneyland Paris amusement park.
The 28-year-old man was apprehended as he tried to get through security at Disney's Hotel New York.
He was reportedly also carrying a box of ammunition when his bag triggered metal detectors at the hotel entrance.
Papers found on the man indicate he is a Paris resident, according to AFP.
A police source also told AFP that initial aspects of the investigation do not point toward terrorism. The man reportedly told police he was carrying the weapons because he feared for his safety.
French police said they detained an unarmed woman in the Paris region who is believed to be the man's girlfriend.
Bomb disposal experts are also inspecting the suspect's car.
France remains in a state of emergency stemming from series of terrorist attacks on Nov. 13 in and around Paris. The attacks, carried out by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), killed 130 people across the city.
Disneyland Paris is one of the most visited attractions in Europe, with more than 10 million visitors in 2014, according to the Global Attractions Attendance Report.
