A majority of Americans say they support the "torture" of suspected terrorists in order to extract information, according to a new poll released Wednesday.
Sixty-three percent of those surveyed in the Reuters/Ipsos poll said torture is "often or sometimes justified," including 53 percent of Democrats and 82 percent of Republicans.
The poll comes after last week's terrorist attacks in Brussels, as well as the attacks late last year in Paris and San Bernardino, Calif.
A majority of Americans, 64 percent, said a terrorist attack is "very or somewhat likely" to take place in the United States in the next six months, while 20 percent said it's "not very or not at all likely."
The survey of 1,976 adults, including 834 Democrats and 700 Republicans, was conducted March 22–28 with an overall margin of error of 2.5 percentage points.
