The State Department on Saturday said that if reports of a North Korean ballistic missile test are confirmed, it would be a “clear violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions.”
The agency also said that it would not comment on intelligence matters but called on North Korea to “refrain from actions that further destabilize the region and focus instead on taking concrete steps toward fulfilling its commitments and international obligations.”

On Saturday, South Korea announced that the North had fired what appeared to be a ballistic missile from a submarine.
