‘Hamilton’ drops muskets from Tony performance after nightclub shootings

Broadway hit “Hamilton” won’t use muskets during its performance at the Tony Awards on Sunday night, following a mass shooting at a gay club in Orlando, Fla., CBS News reports

{mosads}At least 50 people died and 53 were injured at Pulse, and the suspected shooter, Omar Mateen, was killed at the scene. 

Law enforcement officials believe terrorism could be at play, after the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria claimed credit for the violence. The FBI said it interviewed Marteen three times in 2013 and 2014.

The Tony Awards also said in a statement that the annual ceremony for the best on Broadway will be dedicated to the friends and family of those affected. 

“Our hearts are heavy for the unimaginable tragedy,” the statement read.
