A leaked email shows that getting tickets to the Broadway hit "Hamilton" can be a struggle even for the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
WikiLeaks posted 20,000 emails online Friday taken from the DNC, including one from Debbie Wasserman SchultzDeborah (Debbie) Wasserman SchultzOn The Money — Presented by Wells Fargo — Democrats advance tax plan through hurdles Florida Democrat says vaccines, masks are key to small-business recovery DNC members grow frustrated over increasing White House influence MORE pleading with an aide to help her score tickets to the musical.
“I am planning a trip with my college roommates in December to NYC. It is for our 50th birthdays. Can you help me get 7 tickets to Hamilton from our friend who did the FR?,” Wasserman Schultz asked in a May email to Republican National Committee Finance Director Allen Zachary, as first reported by Politico.
But she was told an order of that size might not be possible.
“I’ve never seen an order of 7 fulfilled,” Zachary responded "Would you guys be willing to split up 4 and 3? I hate to even ask but just want to make this as realistic as possible, it's like the hunger games around this thing.”
Wasserman Schultz said she and her friends wouldn’t mind splitting up if they could all get the tickets — which the email noted were $167 per seat — for the same night.
It’s unclear from the email whether the DNC chief and her friends were able to snag the prized tickets.
