"The people want a fighter. They're tired of the lying killer, uh, Hillary Clinton and Bill Clintons of the world," Brewer said in an interview on KTAR News that was highlighted by Mediaite.
Brewer argued that Democrats may be helping the state's economy by spending heavily on advertisements there but that it wouldn't help them politically. "I don't think that they can win Arizona," the Trump supporter said of Democrats.
Trump and Clinton are essentially tied in the state according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.
A CBS News/YouGov poll earlier this month found Trump 2 points ahead, a closer contest than in many other states where Clinton has pulled far ahead in recent weeks.
"We don't like to look at those poll numbers," Brewer said. "They're very concerning, and we need to close that gap."
She called for Trump to "stay on point and on message," pointing to carefully scripted speeches he's delivered the past two weeks as evidence of a strong campaign strategy.
