Sunday shows preview: 9/11 anniversary in focus

Hillary Clinton is dominating the news cycle with her remarks Friday night referring to half of Donald Trump’s supporters as a “basket of deplorables,” but national security will be front and center on the Sunday talk shows.

{mosads}Though Clinton will give a taped interview this week, the Sunday circuit will be focusing on the fifteenth anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks and the nation’s current efforts to combat terrorism.

On his 59th birthday, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson will go four for five on the Sunday shows to discuss the modern terror threat.

Here is the full lineup:

ABC’s “This Week:” Johnson and leading Donald Trump surrogate and then-New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani appear separately to discuss the Sept. 11, 2001 anniversary.

CBS’ “Face the Nation:” CIA Director John Brennan and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) both make an appearance to discuss modern terror threats.

CNN’s “State of the Union:” Clinton gives an exclusive taped interview, in which she discusses 9/11 and national security. Johnson makes an appearance.

“Fox News Sunday:” Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), a Trump supporter, and Rep. Xavier Beccera (D-Calif.) will debate the presidential race. Johnson makes another appearance to discuss national security.

NBC’s “Meet the Press:” Johnson makes another appearance. Former deputy secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz gives an interview.
