LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are coming to the White House next week.
President Obama will host the reigning NBA champions next Thursday, two days after the Nov. 8 elections, the White House announced Friday.
Obama invited the Cavaliers to celebrate at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in June after they overcame a 3-1 deficit to knock off the defending champion Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.
“We’re definitely going to do that,” Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue told the president during a phone call at the time. “If it’s preseason or whatever, we’re going to schedule it so we can come while you’re in the White House for sure.”
Although he’s a fan of the rival Chicago Bulls, Obama appeared to be riveted by the Cavs' first-ever title run. The president remained on Air Force One with his family after a trip to Yosemite National Park to watch the end of Game 7.
