“John Bolton is a bigger neocon than Dick Cheney,” Scarborough said on “Morning Joe.”

“The donor class is pushing John Bolton … on the Trump team, and he just doesn’t need him.”

Turning to a panelist, Scarborough asked what the consequences of having such “a massive neocon on steroids” would be for the incoming administration.

As part of the Bush administration, Bolton was an outspoken supporter of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. 

Trump has fiercely criticized the decision to go to war and claimed to have been against the invasion from the beginning, though a 2002 interview with Howard Stern shows him expressing support for plan.
