In a video address to supporters, NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre said that gun rights activists were responsible for carrying Trump, the Republican nominee, to victory.

“Hillary Clinton made her hatred for the Second Amendment a central issue of this campaign,” LaPierre said.

“And as a result of that fatal mistake, she’s on permanent political vacation.”

He went on to say Trump’s win is a welcome relief to gun owners, and that the hundreds of judges appointed by President Obama represent an “infection for which there is no cure.”

LaPierre also claimed that billionaire elites like George Soros and Michael Bloomberg are trying to eradicate gun rights.

He urged lawmakers to take action to protect against state and local gun control measures.

“The individual right to carry a firearm in defense of our lives and our families does not and should not end at any state line. I call on Congress and the president-elect to pass national right-to-carry reciprocity as quickly as it can be written and signed.”
