China’s state-run TV network will launch a new global media outlet on New Year’s Eve, the broadcaster announced Friday.
The China Global Television Network (CGTN) is going to replace the China Central Television Network (CCTV).
It will consist of six channels, a video content provider and a digital media wing.
The move is an apparent answer to Russia’s own global state-run network, RT, formerly known as Russia Today.
