Planned Parenthood filed for an injunction Friday asking a federal court to prevent the state of Texas from cutting off Medicaid funding to the organization, The Associated Press reported.
The Friday request is part of Planned Parenthood's continuing lawsuit against the state, which it filed last year.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) first sought to cut the funding in 2015 following backlash over the release of undercover videos of Planned Parenthood employees. The group denied wrongdoing.
Earlier this month, health officials in Texas said that Planned Parenthood would no longer receive funding from Medicaid.
According to The Texas Tribune, the organization has received more than $3 million in funding through Medicaid. It serves approximately 12,000 low-income women.
Planned Parenthood Action Fund president Cecile Richards said in a statement earlier this month that the state’s decision to cut the funding is "cautionary tale for the rest of the nation."
"With this action, the state is doubling down on reckless policies that have been absolutely devastating for women," she said.
