Photo of Sanders behind a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream lectern turns into a meme

Twitter

Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) speech at an ice cream factory Friday took off on social media after he tweeted a photo of himself speaking behind a lectern shaped like a giant pint of ice cream.

{mosads}Sanders addressed employees at a Ben & Jerry’s factory in St. Albans, Vt., speaking about energy policy before tasting some flavors.

“We have to transform our energy system away from fossil fuels to clean energy,” he said. “When we stand up and fight back we can change the country in very positive ways.”

Photos of the event were shared on Twitter by Sanders and Ben & Jerry’s. Social media users immediately picked up the photo, with jokes about Sanders being “Vermont’s finest” or mock ice cream flavors named after the senator.
