Clinton aide releases debate prep footage

A former aide to Hillary Clinton who played President Trump in Clinton’s debate prep on Friday released footage from a lighter moment during a prep session.

Phillipe Reines tweeted a video showing Clinton and himself, as Trump, entering a simulated debate setup for a traditional handshake.

{mosads}Reines tries to hug Clinton, who avoids the hug by shaking his hand. Reines then jokingly grabs Clinton to hug her as she heads toward the debate lectern.

“Not easy to avoid the unwanted Trump hug, sometimes it even takes practice,” Reines tweeted alongside the footage.

Reines, a Democratic operative who worked on Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign and served as a senior advisor to her at the State Department, was seen as a perfect fit to portray Trump in Clinton’s debate prep.

The New York Times described Reines as “a deft practitioner of the combative, no-holds-barred politics that Mr. Trump favors.”

Clinton herself called him “passionate, loyal, and shrewd” in her 2014 memoir “Hard Choices,” adding, “I can always trust him to speak his mind.”
