Activists spend night at GOP senator’s office to protest ObamaCare repeal

A group of protesters spent the night at a sit-in protest Thursday at Sen. Rob Portman’s (R-Ohio) Cincinnati offices to demand he vote against the Senate GOP’s healthcare bill.

A protestor told Cincinnati television station WCPO over the phone the demonstrators do not plan to leave until they receive a response from Portman. As of 7 a.m. Friday, she said they had not heard anything.

Portman did not publicly say he was against the Senate healthcare bill until after Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) pulled it from consideration amid internal GOP opposition.

The Senate GOP is expected to try to pass the bill again after negotiations to win over Republican senators who have opposed it.

Activists have planned to stage a round of sit-ins at the offices of Republican senators in 21 states.
