Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright tweeted a photo Monday of her viewing the solar eclipse, writing that the celestial event reminded her that “all darkness is temporary.”

States across America saw an influx of people for the rare solar eclipse on Monday as hundreds of thousands of people flocked to the path of totality.

President Trump took in the eclipse from the Blue Room Balcony at the White House. Joined by first lady Melania Trump and son Barron, the family watched a partial eclipse as the shadow made its way through the Washington, D.C., area.

Trump raised eyebrows when he momentarily removed his protective glasses while looking up and pointing to the sky. A White House aide nearby shouted “don’t look,” and shortly after Trump put the glasses back on and watched the eclipse reach its apex.
